I write because the pen moves. -- Lora Clarke
Welcome!
Thank you for visiting my web site. I am the published author of my Italian ancestors' immigrant biography, Marone Memoirs: An Immigrant Story. History has always been one of my favorite subjects, and that of my ancestors even more so, understandably. During the summer of 2001, the thought occurred to me that no written record of my ancestors' lives existed. From time to time, a few of my relatives would allude to portions of their childhood or younger days, but to my knowledge, none of that information had ever been documented. Being as I am, deeply interested in literature, the thought of documenting the records that my family lacked also occurred to me. Thus, in August of 2001, my endeavor to write this book began. By late spring of 2002, I'd gathered enough information, and had done enough research, to begin writing. It is with much honor that I have labored to complete this book, knowing that there will no longer be an empty space on the bookshelf when it comes to my family history. Few of my relatives mentioned in this book remain today, but when the last one has gone, their story will live on.
Book description: It's the late 1800's, and from the rolling hills of Italy Raffaele Marone is anxious to pursue his dreams of a new future. He's young, independent-minded and ambitious, ready to face whatever hardships America might pose. At a time when the constant pursuit of a new tomorrow makes it easy to lose sight of this land's beginnings, Marone Memoirs: An Immigrant Story is quick-paced and engaging, covering over eighty years of one family's strength and courage in a harsh and cold world. 175 pages. Eleven-page map and photo section; special Historical Information feature; preface; introduction; epilogue; family free; chronology; author's note.
